Baby Sperm Whale Dies After Beaching Itself In Palm Beach

Sperm Whale

A whale beached itself in Palm Beach Monday and died soon after.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the newborn sperm whale washed up just north of Mar-a-Lago, President Trump's estate.

Experts say the whale likely got separated from its mother. It weighs 1,500 pounds and is about 13 feet long.

FWC says if you see a beached whale, call the agency immediately and don't try to get it back in the water. The animal could be too weak to swim and might just beach itself again.

Scientists from the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute will conduct a necropsy.
