Holiday Shopping Safety Tips From Law Enforcement

USA, New Jersey, Jersey City, Couple with Christmas shopping

If you're getting out to do some Christmas shopping this weekend, Boca Raton Police Crime Prevention Officer Bart Galletta says all of us can help protect each other.

"We depend upon the public to be our eyes and ears. If you see something, say something."

While you're in the store...

"It's essential that we have people aware of their surroundings, not buried in their phones, looking around."

And if you're making multiple trips, he advises that you drop off items at home before going to a second stop.

"We have had cases where someone makes an expensive purchase, goes out to lunch afterwards, puts the things in their trunk. The car is subsequently followed, the vehicle broken into and the items are taken."
