PBSO: Gangs Recruit As Young As 8, So Watch Your Kids This Summer

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office urges parents to keep an eye on their kids over the summer.

Sheriff Ric Bradshaw says that if you don't, gangs just might...

"That's why we get involved with a lot of kids' groups like the Boys and Girls Clubs and anything else with young people because these gangs go after kids between 8 and 10 years old, to start recruiting them."

Among the summer programs the Sheriff's Office is involved in, the Florida Sheriffs Youth Camps' "Harmony in the Streets."

The one-week camps have been going on throughout Palm Beach County all summer.

A group of kids from communities near Lake Okeechobee will be brought to a park in West Palm Beach on Friday for a SWAT demonstration.
