Gov. DeSantis Signs New Florida Budget

TALLAHASSEE -- Governor Ron DeSantis signed the 90.9 billion dollar state budget for the fiscal year that starts July 1st... the largest in state history.

DeSantis also vetoed more than 131 million dollars in local and regional projects. He says it's a relatively small number, because lawmakers met many of his goals.

"There wasn't a need for me to exact any type of retribution... I basically took a look at it and tried to make the best decisions I could," DeSantis said.

The budget also includes 5.4 billion dollars in reserves, which DeSantis says is important for a state that has been impacted by major hurricanes the past three years.

Next year's budget is 2 1/2 percent larger than this year's budget.
