Florida Out Of The Running To Host The U.S. Space Force

NASA Prepares For Space Shuttle Discovery's Launch

Florida looks to be out of the running to become the home of the newly established U.S. Space Command.

The Chief Operating Officer for Space Florida, the state's space economic development agency, says he expects the Air Force to announce that they will move forward with one of the original six sites. Those include four in Colorado, one in Alabama and another in California.

Jim Kuzma told this to a National Space Club Florida Committee luncheon at Cap Canaveral on Tuesday.

But just last Friday, Space Florida said it was leading the charge to secure the next combatant command which will be called the Space Force.

The Air Force is expected to formally announce their decision on a location sometime this summer.
