During the sentencing procedure, the judge told the Empire actor,“You’ve turned your life upside down by your misconduct and shenanigans. Your very name has become an adverb for lying.”
The 39-year-old remained defiant and did not apologize. As the judge was imposing the sentence, Jussie Smollett screamed out, "I am not suicidal. I am innocent."
The judge then ordered Smollett to be taken to jail immediately.
