R. Kelly's Lawyer Says Sexual Abuse "Allegations Aren't True"

Just days after Surviving R. Kelly aired its last episode, Georgia authorities launched a criminal investigation against the R&B star to further look into the allegations seven women made against him during the docuseries, which told some harrowing stories of sexual abuse.

During a recent interview with Associated Press, R. Kelly's lawyer Steve Greenberg denied the accusations, stating, “The allegations aren’t true because he never knowingly had sex with an underage woman, he never forced anyone to do anything, he never held anyone captive, he never abused anyone.”

He went on to accuse Lifetime and the Survivng R. Kelly crew of prompting "disgruntled" women to say incriminating things about the singer on camera. “Some producer went running around and solicited all these people, did a Jerry Springer-esque show and there is all this uproar,” the lawyer said.

On Friday (January 10), the 52-year-old addressed the situation while celebrating his birthday. "It's my motherf**cking birthday and I don't give a f**k about what's going on!!" he proclaimed.

Though he and Greenberg vehemently deny the allegations, celebrities including Lady Gaga, Chance the Rapper, and John Legend have publicly apologized for working with him and have spoken out in support of his alleged victims. R. Kelly's daughter even called him a "monster" in a lengthy Instagram story video.

Cops raced to the star's Trump Tower residence in Chicago after receiving an anonymous tip that he was holding two women hostage. However, when they arrived and spoke to both women, they each assured they were there voluntarily.

After the occurrence, Greenberg told the Chicago Tribune: "The police found nothing because there’s nothing wrong. No one’s doing anything wrong, so it's not surprising that the police found nothing was wrong. Those who are all appalled and up in arms should respect the fact that police have been there and they've verified that that there's absolutely nothing wrong."
