Kanye West was basically locked-in as one of the headliners at the 2019 Coachella Music Festival. However, just two days before the legendary two-weekend music fest was supposed to announce its full 2019 line-up, the "I Love It" rapper reportedly "sprung a last-minute surprise on the concert promoter," saying he wanted a custom-built dome in the middle of the festival grounds designed by set designer John McGuire, Billboard reports.

After calls to Ye, who was supposed to close out the festival in the Sunday night slot, and Ye's team reportedly ended in disaster — the "Lift Yourself" rapper allegedly became irritated, hanging up on senior executives from Coachella after Goldenvoice, the parent company of the music festival, told him that it would be impossible to create a dome since they would have to rearrange the entire festival site and remove a large section of portable bathrooms to fulfill his request — the Coachella team decided to end talks with him and less than 24 hours later, Ariana Grande was confirmed for the final night.

Coachella isn't the only festival where Kanye has had creative differences with concert promoters. According to BillboardYe was close to landing a headliner slot for New York's Governors Ball, however, promoters also denied his last-minute dome request and ended up "parting ways a day before the lineup was announced."

As previously reported, a source told TMZ after it was revealed Kanye would not be headlining Coachella, that the "All Mine" rapper is done performing at festivals altogether because he's not down with performing on a regular stage. "These 40x60 stages are so archaic. It's the same type of stage on which Shakespeare's works were performed hundreds of years ago," said the insider. As fans know, Kanye is all about innovative performance platforms since his moving "Saint Pablo Tour" stage in 2016.

As for this year's confirmed Coachella headliners: Childish Gambino, Tame Impala and Ariana will be taking over the Coachella main-stage the second and third weeks of April 2019.
