Ryan Gosling Once Intimidated Dave Matthews At A Karaoke Bar

Dave Matthews may be a rock superstar with nine critically acclaimed studio albums under his belt, but that doesn't mean he doesn't get intimidated.

The 51-year-old musician visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to chat about the latest DMB album, Come Tomorrow, and his spoof album Dave Matthews Sings Trap Music, which was the focus of a skit that aired on the show when the topic of karaoke came up. More specifically, why Matthews doesn't participate.

“I’ve never done karaoke in my whole life,” he admitted. When Fallon, dumbfounded, asked why, Matthews answer was simple: “That’s what I do every [day].”

He did, however, try it out once. But a certain former member of the Mickey Mouse Club made him think twice.

“I’m going to drop his name because he’s a cutie—you know that Ryan Gosling guy?” Matthews quipped. “I went to a karaoke bar in New York with him.”

He went on to explain how the place went completely nuts for the La La Land star. So much so, that the man who's been playing music professionally for nearly 30 years didn't want to perform after him.

“He just hopped up and sang, and it was awesome and I just hate it,” Matthews joked. “I don’t have any time for that. I’m like, 'That’s not fun to watch that happen.' And then the four people that can see past him and see me are like, ‘Are you going to sing now?’ And I’m like, ‘Not a chance.’”
