Amid the saga between Mo’Nique and her fight against Netflix for color and gender bias due to being offered a significantly low price for a comedy special, comedian Gary Owen decided to poke fun at the situation chiming in with own battle with discrimination in entertainment.Last week, comedian and actress Mo’Nique took to Instagram calling for the public to boycott Netflix after she was offered $500,000 for a comedy special. Mo’Nique questioned why she was offered so little while comedian Amy Schumer negotiated a deal for 13 million and Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock were offered 20 million. The Oscar-winning actress has picked up support from Wanda Sykes and Jada Pinkett Smith, but many have called out Mo’Nique for worrying about what others make. While he in the past has clowned celebrities like Tyrese when he was experiencing drama during his custody battle over his daughter, Gary Owens took to Instagram on Tuesday to let the world know that he too suffered racial and cultural bias.“Hello, my loves. I would like all of you to join me in boycotting Telemundo.” Owens said mimicking the opening of Mo'Nique's video. “Recently I pitched a comedy special, and they said no due to racial, gender and language bias. They said they’re a Spanish speaking network and I don’t speak Spanish. So, they wouldn’t give me special.”Check out Owen’s hilarious video above.
