New Music Report - New Releases Week of May 29th

Happy Monday! Kickstart your week ahead by checking out all of the new music that has just been released in this roundup of new music that you need to be listening to. From new albums by Lil Yachty and Shakira, to new songs from Rita Ora and Carly Rae Jepsen, to new collaborations from Martin Garrix & Troye Sivan and Nick Jonas, Mike Posner & Anne-Marie, to our expert picks, take a look at this week's New Releases:

Lil Yachty - Teenage Emotions

Lil Yachty finally dropped his debut album, Teenage Emotions. The album has guest appearances by YG, Migos, Kamaiyah, Diplo and more, and some producers of the project include Earl the Pearl, Burberry Perry, WondaGurl, Digital Nas and 30 Roc. Teenage Emotions consists of 20 tracks. The album’s cover art went viral when Yachty shared it on social media a few weeks ago. It shows Yachty sitting down in a movie theater with a girl who has vigilo, a kissing gay couple, an albino boy, an overweight girl, and more enjoying themselves and being comfortable in their own skin – something that Yachty does, himself, and urges everyone to do, as well.

Martin Garrix & Troye Sivan - "There For You"

If you head over to the charts, you'll notice a range of different kinds of songs. You have heartbreak anthems, club bangers and diss tracks. However, what we don't have enough of is heartwarming records. Thankfully, Martin Garrix and Troye Sivan have served up a sweet ode to true connection in their just-released collab, "There For You.” "There For You" is an almost four-minute tribute to substantial relationship as Troye sings about getting through a tough year with someone by his side. Garrix's production isn't too gritty or harsh either, which fits the sweet sentiment of the track. If you remember correctly, the pair debuted the track during weekend two of Coachella in April.

Nick Jonas featuring Mike Posner - "Remember I Told You"

Last year Nick Jonas released his third solo album Last Year Was Complicated, and the pop star hit the road with Demi Lovato on tour shortly afterwards. But it was during that tour that Nick created his latest single "Remember I Told You," which features his buddy Mike Posner and UK singer/songwriter Anne-Marie (Clean Bandit's "Rockabye Baby").

"Remember I Told You" is a simplistic R&B/dance song, as Nick, Anne-Marie, and Posner take turns throughout the track's verses. Nick sings, "Remember I told you, I need you/All of the words that I'm saying/Are just a fancy way of saying I care." The song shows an evolution in sound for Nick, and even gives off some Justin Timberlake vibes in the chorus.

The song, in Nick's own words, is about a subject that is relatable to most people. "To me, this song is about needing to be heard, and just trying to level with somebody that really means something to you. I think it's something that a lot of people can relate to," Nick says. He adds, "It also feels like it could be a good summer song."

Shakira - El Dorado

Shakira shows love to her Spanish roots with her new album, El Dorado, her first album since 2014’s self-titled set, and it’s already faring well amongst fans. Not only is her single, “Me enamoré,” sitting pretty at the No. 5 position on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart, but the Columbian superstar has also teamed up with a number of stars like Maluma (once again), Nicky Jam, Prince Royce, Carlos Vives, Black M and MAGIC! Unlike her previous efforts, El Dorado, hears the singer flipping back and forth between languages, offering fans with both English and Spanish tracks. See: “Chantaje” and “Coconut Tree"

Rita Ora - "Your Song"

It’s no surprise that Rita Ora hasn’t had the best of luck with her music career. Even though it looked bright during her debut in 2012, things more or less faltered from then on. Thankfully, the British songstress might have some luck with her Steve Mac-produced single, “Your Song,” which was co-written by none other than Ed Sheeran. "Your Song" is a simple (but effective) romance record, which hears her singing about being in love atop some breezy synth-charged production. Ora and Sheeran have been friends since they were teens, so it’s no surprise that Rita called their team-up nothing short of “brilliant.”

Little Mix featuring Stormzy - "Power"

Stormzy is a name we've been hearing a lot lately. The grime and hip hop artist has been contributing verses to a lot of songs, including this new version of Little Mix's "Power," from their 2016 Glory Days. Stormzy's verse gives the original a fresh new voice, and fits in perfectly with the track's original production. This isn't the first time the girls teamed up with another artist on a Glory Days remix either. Not too long ago, they released a new version of "No More Sad Songs" featuring Machine Gun Kelly.

Halsey featuring Lauren Jauregui - "Strangers"

Just as she wished, Halsey made the LGBTQ community proud with "Strangers," her duet with Fifth Harmony's Lauren Jauregui off hopeless fountain kingdom, which is a sexy mid-tempo cut about the disintegration of interest between two females. "Strangers" is probably the strongest of the already released tracks from her upcoming LP and revolves around a love gone wrong, with several shining moments for the pair over some heavy '80s-esque synth. "We’re not lovers, we’re just strangers / with the same damn hunger / to be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all," the openly bi-sexual pair croons to magical results during the song's hook. Produced by Greg Kurstin, the song follows Halsey's previously-released "Eyes Closed" and "Now Or Never."

Sia featuring Labrinth - "To Be Human"

It's appropriate that Sia would have the lead single from The Wonder Woman Soundtrack -- because if there is a Wonder Woman of music, it's her with her incredible voice and top notch songwriting skills. For this new song, Sia teamed up with Labrinth on "To Be Human," a mid-tempo melodic powerhouse duet. Sia sing's in the song's chorus, "To be human is to love/Even when it gets too much/I'm not ready to give up."

Carly Rae Jepsen - "Cut The Feeling"

Carly Rae Jepsen can't seem to keep offering up more sides of E·MO·TION, and we're entirely grateful. Friday saw the release of yet another shimmering leftover from the sessions called "Cut to the Feeling," which the singer said was originally "too cinematic and theatrical" for the LP. Thankfully, the track makes its way to us via the soundtrack to the animated French Canadian film, Leap! CRP also voices a character in the film, so it’s a fitting move.

Bryson Tiller - True To Self

While the world was sleeping last week, Bryson Tiller surprisingly dropped his True To Self album! True To Self was initially scheduled to be released on June 23. So, when the 24-year-old singer/songwriter announced on his social media that it's here a month early, fans couldn't believe it. "I know we said June 23rd… but I say we Set it Off Tonight!! ALBUM OUT NOW,” Tiller wrote on Twitter. He also posted about it on Instagram.

The project consists of 19 tracks and just like his 2015 debut album, T R A P S O U L, True To Self has no features in sight. In a previous interview with Rolling Stone, Tiller described his new LP as having an authentic R&B vibe that fans of the genre will definitely enjoy. "There's some stuff you hear and it holds you over until something else new comes out," Tiller said. "Those songs actually make you feel something. That's why I love 1990s music so much." The star added, "I feel like R&B is getting back to where it should be."

Gucci Mane - Drop Top Wop

Gucci Mane released Drop Top Wop on Friday (May 26) and Metro Boomin produced it. This date is very important, as it marks the one-year anniversary of when Gucci left prison. “May 26 last year I walked outta prison! May 26 this year I’m dropping #DropTopWOP #TrackList #ProducedBy @metroboomin #1017 10:17AM,” he captioned his mixtape’s announcement, a couple of days before it dropped. Some artists featured on the project include Rick Ross, Offset and Young Dolph.

Cheat Codes & Cade - "Stay With You"

Cheat Codes keep on supplying the tunes. In late Match, the trio dropped their Demi Lovato-assisted “No Promises,” and now they’re back with “Stay With You,” a slow-grooving cut about helping a lover overcome the fear of commitment. It features budding singer Cade, who boasts an impressive resume with previous performances alongside folks like G-Eazy, Steve Aoki and Jason Derulo

Noah Cyrus - "I'm Stuck"

Noah Cyrus is intent on making her pop star career last and her strategy appears to be clear: Drop as much music as possible until something sticks with the public. For her newest offering, “I’m Stuck,” the youngest Cyrus gets a little twangy and implores some dance elements, making her new single something we can’t exactly categorized and that might just be a good thing. Expect to hear this one as well as “Make Me (Cry)“ and “Stay Together" on her debut album, NC-17, which is expected to drop later this year.

G-Eazy featuring E-40, MadeinTYO & 24hrs - "Shake It Up"

G-Eazy joined forces with E-40, MadeinTYO & 24hrs to give us “Shake It Up.” The track is all strip club vibes, as viewers of the song’s music video will easily to able to see the split (get it?) second they begin watching it. Eazy does his thing with his slick bars and before you know it, E-40 comes through and makes the song just that much more lit, along with TYO’s and 24hrs’s verses. This is the first song we’ve heard 40 rap on it some time. It’s dope to see that he’s still got it and is down to collab with some new, hot talent.

G-Eazy & Snoop Dogg - "Get Mine"

G-Eazy and Snoop just killed it with this one! The two Cali rappers came together to make “Get Mine” and it’s a straight banger. Throughout the entire song, Eazy is feeling himself and is bragging about being the boss he is. He’s tired of the fakes trying to stunt and is ready to let it be known that he’s a real one. Snoop kills it on the song’s chorus. “Get Mine” gives us all the Cali feels and you won’t be able to listen to it just once. You think we’re lying? Press play for yourself below. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Matoma, Faith Evans & Notorious B.I.G. - "Party On The West Coast" (featuring Snoop Dogg)

Norwegian producer/DJ Matoma released a pretty epic collaboration featuring three music legends, especially in the hip hop/R&B world: Faith Evans, Notorious B.I.G., and Snoop Dogg. For the collab, Matoma put a house spin on "Old Thing Back" to create "Party On The West Coast. He explains on social media that he got in touch with Faith Evans and Snoop to put the collaboration together to celebrate what would have been Biggie's 45th birthday on May 21st. See the full post below:

"It's funny how big a difference one person can have on your life. I'll never forget the first time I heard Biggie, my big brother Dan played me Ready To Die and I never heard anything like it. I couldn't understand the words or the stories but I could feel them, his flow, the vibe, it changed me. A few years ago, with nothing but this same respect and love for such a legend, I took a Biggie acapella from YouTube and made "Old Thing Back" with my own inspirations, in my bedroom in Trondheim, mixed with just one speaker! I just found out it achieved GOLD sales in America. The impact that this great man has had on me not only with the music that fueled me as a teenager but to this insane achievement in the beginning of my career, words can't describe. A couple months ago I got in touch with another legend Faith Evans and asked to put this collaboration together to celebrate Biggie's birthday. Her and her team are amazing, her voice and vibe is incredible, and now I'm honoured to share a song with her, the one and only Snoop Dogg and the legend who changed my life, like I think he changed so many lives, and to who I am always grateful."

Axwell /\ Ingrosso - More Than You Know EP

Producer/DJ duo Axwell /\ Ingrosso -- 2/3 of Swedish House Mafia -- released their first EP in three years called More Than You Know, which follows their collaboration with Kid Ink called "I Love You." More Than You Know showcases four new songs, including their most recent single "Renegade."

The guys recently debuted the "Renegade" lyric video via their Instagram stories -- something that's never been done before. The video was directed by Francesco Ragazzi, who frequently collaborates with Pharrell Williams and A$AP Rocky.

Pia Mia featuring Jeremih - "I'm A Fan"

Yup, we're a fan ... of Pia Mia's new song "I'm A Fan" (and first of 2017). It's an absolute BOP. The 20-year-old singer/songwriter teamed up with singer/rapper Jeremih on her new single, which gives us some serious island vibes -- but hey, she is from Guam after all. Call this a perfect addition to your summer playlist.

Future - "Mask Off (Kendrick Lamar Remix)"

Future’s “Mask Off” was a smash the second it was released a hot minute ago. But, you can never go wrong with a Kendrick Lamar verse laid on something ... which brings us to this new remix of the hit song with K. Dot’s bars. The conscious flow that Kenny always brings to the table was interesting to listen to when it was combined with Future’s trap style. They’re two complete opposites! Nevertheless, these opposites attracted to breathe new life into “Mask Off.” Listen to it for yourself and let how know if you’re feeling it.

Missy Elliott featuring Eve, Lil Kim & Trina - "I'm Better (Remix)"

Ladies!!! Stop whatever it is that you're doing because Missy Elliott has dropped her "I'm Better” remix featuring Lil Kim, Eve and Trina. If you're a fan of Elliott's, you already know that she's always been about women coming together and commanding respect with each other. This new track portrays this perfectly. On the song, Lil Kim, Trina and Eve join Missy to shut stuff down -- and do so, so effortlessly. All of the femcees are more real than ever before, as they rap on Elliott's already hot song and give it a completely different tone. When women come together, it's truly a beautiful thing.

Maejor - "Always Be"

Maejor? More like BAEjor the way he's putting out these bops. The 30-year-old singer/songwriter is back with a brand new jam called "Always Be," which follows previously released songs like "Vibrations," "Intuition," and "Dance." On "Always Be," Maejor sings about how his love for his lady will never change no matter what -- it will always be the same. He sings, "It's always the same/My love will never change/My love always the same."

Over the last seven years, Maejor has collaborated with artists like J. Cole, Jeremih, Trey Songz, and more. And his writing credits include songs from people like Justin Bieber, Three 6 Mafia, Austin Mahone, and a long list of others. But are definitely digging his solo work lately!
