Bad news for fans of Netflix's The Get Down series. The show has been cancelled after one season, Variety is reporting.

The Get Down has been plagued with rumors of behind-the-scenes drama for as long as it was on air, including the numerous times last year that production was forced to stop and start, due to the show's high cost of filming. It's the most expensive Netflix show to date, costing over $120 million to create.

It's also received lower than expected views. It attracted about 3.2 million views in the U.S. in its first month. This is about 20 percent of the views that other hit shows on Netflix such as Orange Is The New Black have received during the same timeframe. All of these issues have contributed to the show ending now.

Last year, the show's creator, Baz Luhrmann, admitted that he considered ending the show on a few occasions. “I really believed that I was sort of going to be an uncle to the project,” Luhrmann told Variety. “The mechanism that pre-existed to create TV shows didn’t really work for this show. At every step of the way there was no precedent for what we were doing. The standard process really didn’t work, so progressively, I was drawn more and more into the center of it.”

Goodbye The Get Down. It's been real.
