R&B singer and producer The-Dream is changing things up for 2014.
On Instagram, the singer announced that he's parting ways with Def Jam Recordings. The crooner posted a picture of the label's emblem along with a caption saying, "I will miss this logo." He also wrote that he loves everything that he achieved there.
While he didn't give a reason as to why he's leaving Def Jam, the split seems to be amicable because he's taken to sharing photos of his highlights at the label. He also hinted that his so-called "EXODUS" from Def Jam will give way to an independent venture.
Creativity! My own Time my own Way. Just me and spat my Engineer at the Time. No label at All! Perfect http://t.co/TMY0WzHcIY— THE-DREAM (@TheKingDream) January 8, 2014
The-Dream signed with Def Jam in 2007 and released five records with the label. His latest album was 2013's IV Play. The project featured guest appearances from a number of big name artists such as Jay Z, Beyoncé, Pusha T and Big Sean.
