TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Tampa Bay Comic Con is underway at the Tampa Convention Center. (audio on the event and photos from 2013 and 2014 below)
It is a comic book convention that’s been around since 2000 and features nearly 400,000 square feet of comics, cosplay, videos, toys, action figures, anime, video games, Star Wars, artwork, and trading cars.
This year, organizers expect 50,000 people to show up over the course of the three-day convention - that's nearly double last year's attendance of 28,000. Saturday is expected to be the busiest day.
Popular cosplay at the convention includes Batman, Superman, and other super heroes. They're normally popular at the convention year after year.
The ribbon cutting [photos] was held earlier today to commemorate the event and celebrate it becoming a member of the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce, and can be viewed below.
Tampa Bay Comic Con is one of the largest of comic book conventions in the state of Florida.
The hours are:
Friday: noon – 6pm
Saturday: 8am – 6pm
Sunday: 9am – 5pm
