SPRING HILL, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Hernando County officials say two days after a sinkhole opened up in a Spring Hill neighborhood, a home there has been declared unsafe.
The contractor is on site removing debris from the sinkhole. Officials say a geo-technical consultant will be on-site Tuesday to conduct its investigation. The sinkhole has not changed in size.
The sinkhole, which is 40x40 yards and 30 feet deep, forced crews to close the intersection Saturday at Eldridge Road and Van Allen Way. It originally measured 25x25 yards and 30 feet deep.
Three homes were temporarily evacuated; however, the residents were later permitted to return.
No one was injured.
