TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) – An 8-year-old girl and a Tampa Fire Rescue dispatcher helped the girl’s mother deliver her baby at home while help was on the way, Tampa Fire Rescue officials said.
Firefighters said it happened just after 7 a.m. Monday morning on the 4700 block of Wisconsin Ave. in South Tampa.
Dispatch received a 911 call from the woman who was in labor so the dispatcher talked the mom and 8-year-old daughter through everything until paramedics arrived shortly after, according to TFR. They successfully delivered the baby boy then transferred mother and son to Tampa GeneralHospital for follow-up care.
Both mother and son are doing fine.
